Translating and interpreting the law takes many forms. A recent judgment of the King’s Bench for Saskatchewan 😊 involved the interpretation of emojis. It found that the use of a thumbs-up emoji was sufficient to form a contract. So where is my Monday smile, I hear you ask.
The judgment:
This has led the parties to a far flung search for the equivalent of the Rosetta Stone in cases from Israel, New York State and some tribunals in Canada, etc. to unearth what a 👍 emoji means.”
And:
Q. It says, “I approve.” Would you agree that that’s what the thumbs up emoji means?
MR. JORDAAN: Objection. My client is not an expert in emojis.
