The 3rd European Legal English Teachers’ Association (EULETA) Legal English Workshop, Training Our Students To Use Plain English, is to be held on 28 September 2013 at the Language Centre, University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
“During the last 30 years an international movement has been growing for the use of plain language within the law and the legal profession. Many distinguished judges, academics and lawyers in the Anglo-American legal world have been advocating the eradication of legalese and its replacement by legal writing which is in plain English. Legal English trainers need to be aware of the latest developments in this field so as to be able to help students create plain English in their studies.
This workshop will provide a practical and important forum for trainers to learn how to create plain language lesson plans and materials for students. It will also be an excellent opportunity for trainers to exchange ideas, to meet old and new friends and to network generally.
The programme is available here, and more information on accommodation etc can be obtained from the organizers’ website here.
