Monday smile – Innocent gardeners

Thanks to Ana’s Twitter feed, not to mention BBC World, I have this report to share with you – if you live in a part of the world that has escaped coverage of this incredible (true) story. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin.

An elderly English couple went to a car boot sale, and bought a cutting that they believed to be a garden shrub. They planted it, tended and watered it, and it grew and grew. You can see the result above.

Police officers were said to be astounded when they spotted the cannabis plant. They have since collected it and plan to dispose of it, but not before sharing their discovery on Twitter. Alongside a picture of the bush, Bedford Police tweeted: “Seized today. Elderly couple bought shrub at car boot sale, tended carefully – biggest cannabis plant we had seen.”

No charges are to be brought against the unwitting pot farmers. As Ana said – “Only in England.” 🙂
