Meno le persone sanno di come vengono fatte le salsicce e le leggi e meglio dormono la notte.
“The less people know about how sausages and laws are made, the better they sleep at night.”
This quote by Otto von Bismarck comes from an Italian book I recently came across – “Quando il diritto va a rovescio“, by Antonello and Marco Martinez, published by Sperling & Kupfer.
Also from the book:
Hit parade delle leggi vigenti
Italia | 200,000 |
Francia | 7,000 |
Germania | 5,500 |
Gran Bretagna | 3,000 |
Not having yet read the book, I can’t give details of how the above was calculated, and indeed in the extract I saw, the authors specify that this is an estimation only, but it gives you the general idea… 😉
Here is the back cover blurb: “Due serissimi avvocati ci trascinano nella giungla delle norme e dei tribunali italiani. Un libro così impietoso da far morir dal ridere. Se non ci fosse da piangere.“
It reminds me a bit of some priceless comments by De Franchis in his wonderful Dizionario Giuridico.
