aarhusThe Department of Business Communication at Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University, Denmark, will host the 8th EST Congress (European Society for Translation Studies) from 15-17 September 2016. The theme of the congress is Translation Studies: Moving Boundaries.

The EST Congress, held on a triennial basis, will bring together a wide range of participants this year, as is apparent from the diverse list of panels (see here), covering many areas of interest to those involved in translation. There is a specific legal panel entitled “Crossing and moving boundaries in legal translation and interpreting“.

Registration

The final deadline for registration is 15 June 2016. The number of Congress participants is limited to 400. Registration is open for both presenters and non-presenters already now, but the latter group will be put on a waiting list till presenters have registered. Only if seats are available once presenters have registered, after the deadline of 15 June, will non-presenters be offered attendance. For full details about registration click here.

Point of interest: 2016 is a special year in the Danish translation context as it marks the 50th anniversary of the world’s first translator’s Act, which was passed in Denmark in 1966. It was the first Act to put in place a system of translator authorization, rights and obligations and a code of translation ethics.
