5th International Conference on Economic, Business, Financial and Institutional Translation

The University of Alicante, Spain, is hosting the 5th International Conference on Economic, Business, Financial and Institutional Translation (ICEBFIT) from 29 to 30 June 2023

“Professional translation performed for users in the business world is a heterogeneous practice, essential to keep the economy working, continuously exposed to unpredictable world events and, consequently, in constant evolution.

International reports such as Ray & Whittaker (2012) or De Palma et al. (2015) prove that business translation plays a major role in today’s global translation market, which, without a doubt, has direct implications in the academic world. At the same time, research in business translation has been picking up speed since the end of the 20th century, but there is still little awareness of genuine professional issues among researchers.  Also, teaching and research experiences carried out beyond the Western world are virtually unknown (most of the publications registered both in the BITRA and TSB databases are European).

All in all, research on business translation hardly advances or ends up stagnating and being repetitive, resulting in a significant ignorance about the impact that research has on the agents involved in business translation: professionals, researchers, trainees and consumers.

Against this backdrop, and following successful academic conferences in Alicante, Spain (2014, 2018), Trois-Rivières, Canada (2016) and Cairo, Egypt (2021), the University of Alicante is pleased to announce the 5th International Conference on Economics, Business, Financial and Institutional Translation. Our aim is to promote critical and fresh approaches, bringing together researchers, teachers, translation practitioners and other specialists to interact and share their experience and research.”

See the conference website (in Spanish, Valencian, English and French) for more information.
