The International Journal of Chinese and English Translation & Interpreting has recently issued a call for papers for a Special Issue on ‘Language-pair-specific issues in translation and interpreting’.
“Chinese is known arguably as one of the most difficult languages in second language learning and in translation and interpreting. Some scholars have pointed out language-pair-specific issues in translation and interpreting particularly between Chinese and European languages.”
In this themed issue, the journal calls for systematic discussion from T&I researchers, trainers and practitioners about but not limited to the following:
- Typical difficulties in Chinese translation
- Typical difficulties in Chinese interpreting
- Grammatical issues (e.g., structural asymmetry) particular to Chinese translation
- Grammatical issues (e.g., structural asymmetry) particular to Chinese interpreting
- Pragmatic issues particular to Chinese translation
- Pragmatic issues particular to Chinese interpreting
- Cultural issues particular to Chinese translation
- Cultural issues particular to Chinese interpreting
- Typical problems that Chinese translation teaching needs to deal with
- Typical problems that Chinese interpreting teaching needs to deal with.
Deadline for submission of abstracts related to the theme: 30th Aug 2022
