The World Intellectual Property Organization’s WIPO Pearl terminology database was updated two months ago with 5,000 new terms, 500 new concepts, and 1,000 new concept relations.
The database now contains over 105,000 terms in 10 languages, and 16,000 concepts, all entered and validated by WIPO language experts (translators and terminologists).
Over 9,200 concepts are now linked to other concepts in the database, and these relationships can be explored in the Concept Map Search.
I love the Concept Maps. You type in a concept and immediately get a visual overview of all sorts of related terms – and when you click on them the multilingual term content is displayed. Below is a map I prepared earlier 🙂 for “tyre” (click to enlarge).

Try out the Concept Map Search here, and the Linguistic Search here.

Sweet!! Nice visualization! My field (electronics) is definitely covered, but I do not see my native language in there. Why is it, that it’s those particular languages, that are covered, and will more be added?
Hi Thomas,
As it seems to be a work in progress, I would write to the WIPO webmaster about your language – you never know. 🙂
