“This database contains links to monolingual, bilingual and multilingual glossaries with specific terminology on topics that are related to EU legislation. Since the creation of this tool, TermCoord has gathered more than 1200 links that are used daily by translators not only from the EU Institutions but also from other countries.
Since its main goal is to assist translators in their day-to-day work, it is important to ensure the quality of the glossaries that are linked in TermCoord’s website. All staff at the Terminology Coordination Unit is asked to propose new ones and this is also one of the main tasks of the trainees. They are checked by one of the linguistic coordinators to make sure they are reliable before adding them to the database.
Once in the database, glossaries can be easily searched by their source, category, by a keyword, or by one or more languages. The idea is that when a translator clicks on one of the glossary links they go directly to a search window or to the glossary itself without having to click any further. This helps saving time when searching for terminology on a specific domain.
Glossary Links is a tool that is constantly growing and improving. Therefore a great deal of time is devoted to updating it. Since your feedback is also an important part of this task, we invite you to send your suggestions or leave a comment to help us improve.”
