ISO releases plain language standard

Two days ago, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) formally approved its first international plain language standard. The press release follows.

Monday smile – Rubber ducks make a splash to bring joy

In a bid to cheer up the population, two giant inflatable ducks have made a splash in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor, in the return of a pop-art project that sparked a frenzy in the city a decade ago.

The two 18-meter-tall yellow ducks are by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman. The installation is called ‘Double Ducks’.

When interviewed, the artist said “We need some joy”.

Sounds like a pretty good reason to me.

The Société française des traducteurs (SFT) is organising its 10th Summer School for Financial Translation, to take place on 17-19 July 2023 in Luxembourg. The host this year is the European Investment Bank.

The event is designed especially for translators and interpreters who specialize in finance and business, and who work with French and English.
