An Advanced Seminar in Understanding the Nuances of the Law in Spanish and English for bilingual legal professionals is to be held at the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky from November 2-4 2012, comprising 19 hours Continuing Education Units.
I just came across this very interesting webinar organized by the American Translators Association (ATA) – and thought you might be interested.

“In this 60-minute webinar, attorney and translator Tom West will examine the terminology of a civil lawsuit in Mexico and compare it with the terms used in the U.S. and other Spanish-speaking countries. The presentation will cover the framework of civil procedure including the pre-filing stage, pleadings, evidence (pruebas), types of judgments (sentencias), and appeals (recursos). Typical phrases used in filings and how to translate them will be included in the webinar discussion.
This week is proving to have a distinctly hispanophone flavour. That has had me dreaming about tapas of course… hoping to indulge on a possible work trip to Madrid in the near future.
Anyway, back to dictionaries. This recently published work was brought to my attention by Professor Esther Monzó at University Jaume I (Spain). She thoroughly recommends it, having had personal experience of the original glossaries.
