The Syndicat national des traducteurs professionnels (SFT) is organizing a webinar on 31 January 2017 for those newly appointed to be a sworn translator and/or interpreter in France. The training session will be in French, so the rest of this post follows suit!
This workshop is designed to familiarize you with the Code of Ethics that court interpreters use to guide them in ethically fraught situations. Through discussions and exercises with the trainer and other participants, you will acquire the tools to successfully navigate situations where ethical considerations are at stake.
The session is aimed at translators of court and other legal documents, and those wishing to update their knowledge of English law in this field.
eCPD Webinars will be holding a webinar on November 6th, 2013 on translating Japanese contracts.

These webinars, to be held on the Proz translators’ platform on November 14 & 28, are being run by Ana Luiza Iaria, who is highly experienced in the field. They will be in Portuguese and I have copied the description for you below. The target audience is legal translators and those with an interest in legal issues; translators who translate to and from Brazilian Portuguese. Price for the two webinars, USD 25.
Just a reminder of my previous post – eCPD Webinars are presenting a series of five 1-hour webinars in June and July, on legal terminology in England and Wales. Of course, being webinars, they can be accessed from anywhere in the world, and if you’re not free at the time of the webinar, you can watch the recording later on.
The speaker is David Hutchins of Lexacom, who teaches law and terminology at face-to-face workshops and seminars, both to translators, and to lawyers from civil code systems who are less familiar with common law.
