The Terminology Coordination Unit at the European Parliament is the publisher of two free e-books, each including twenty interviews with prominent terminologists.
There are academics, commercial lexicographers, lawyers, translators, quality managers, computational linguists, specialists in health and finance… which only scratches the surface of these people’s expertise.

Back in 2015 R. Sikoryak, a graphic artist, decided to illustrate the iTunes Terms & Conditions as a series of comic plates in the style of various classic characters. This has given rise to a 96-page graphic novel. 🙂

Last week, an article in Le Monde newspaper brought to my attention the translator Bérengère Viennot, who has been rendering Donald Trump’s words in French.
My apologies to all those readers who have already seen the interviews with Ms Viennot, but for anybody who has had their head in the sand, like me, here are some links. I find her prose a delight – both in English and in French.

Plants and communication
Attendees of #W2D2017 received a plantable badge. 🙂 As Jenny W. said, the “intended metaphor is clear enough”. We all hope that the conference will have lasting and continuing effects on our profession.
Part of this post is to pass on some planting advice, but that got me thinking back to a fantastic project in Tuscany, Italy, the inception of which I was lucky enough to visit, on rendering signals emitted by the roots of an olive tree.
