Free online study unit – Exploring the boundaries of international law
The Open University makes some of its study units freely available online. This one in particular provides an introduction to key concepts underpinning the study of international law.
It looks at international legal personality, explores the status of the State, examines the principle of sovereignty and summarizes the principles of jurisdiction. The focus is on areas of special relevance to contemporary events.
Workshop – Update on Mexican criminal & civil law
The New Mexico Translators and Interpreters Association (NMTIA) is organizing a Criminal & Civil Law (with Procedure) Workshop, sponsored jointly with RPS Rosado Professional Solutions, on 6 December 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The workshop will examine the new legislation adopted by Mexico, including the new code of March 2014.

As you know, I often publicize such events – a good way to access training in short bites, from anywhere in the world with an internet connection, at a reasonable cost.
Open Access International Journal for Legal Communication
Comparative Legilinguistics – International Journal for Legal Communication is published each quarter by the Institute of Linguistics, Faculty of Modern Languages and Literature, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland.
It contains articles, reviews and reports in English, French, Spanish, Chinese and Russian. The articles are peer-reviewed by two reviewers (double-blind review).
Comparative Legilinguistics is devoted mainly to legi-linguistics (legal linguistics), forensic linguistics, theory of the law and legal language, and legal translation.
Workshop – Legal English & Forensic Linguistics, Birmingham, UK
The Centre for Forensic Linguistics at Aston University, Birmingham, UK, together with the International Association of English in Law and Insurance is running a workshop on teaching legal English that will take place on Wednesday 19th November 2014, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Compendiums of euro and monetary union legislation 2014
A compilation, issued by the European Commission, bringing together the core legal texts on euro banknotes and coins has just been published. It is entitled “Economic and Monetary Union – Main Euro Cash Legislation 2014“.
