The Faculty of Law at Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II has made available three MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses).
Since the courses are in French, the remainder of this post is in that language.

Conference – Legal interpreters & translators in the Enlarged Europe, Kraków, Poland
The Polish Society of Sworn and Specialized Translators (TEPIS), in cooperation with its partners, is holding an international conference New Tasks for Legal Interpreters and Translators in the Enlarged Europe, from 3-5 April 2014 in Kraków, Poland. Early bird registration until 15 February.
It will coincide with the General Assembly of EULITA (European Legal Interpreters and Translators Association) on 5 April 2014.
Guest post – Select Committee evidence on legal interpreting
Today I would like to present a most valuable guest post from Dr Yvonne Fowler, who gave written evidence to the UK’s Justice Select Committee as part of its investigations into what can only be described as an outsourcing fiasco.
I believe that Dr Fowler’s paper covers the key issues in a clear, incisive and succinct way, and that the points raised can easily (and should) be transposed to apply to court interpreting globally.
Conference – Communicating in Business, Cambridge, UK
Stridonium, the international forum for professional linguists, will hold its one-day annual conference at the Møller Centre in Cambridge on 24 March 2014: Communicating in Business – Getting Language Right.
Stridonium was set up in 2009 as a venue for professional language specialists. Originally a private site for professional exchange and support for translators, it is now exploring alternatives to further the interests and raise the standards of the translation sector.

Conference – Language and Law in Social Practice, Caserta, Italy
The third International Conference on Language and Law in Social Practice is to be held at the Royal Palace of Caserta, National School of Public Administration (Scuola Superiore della Pubblica Amministrazione), Italy, from 14 to 17 May 2014. This biennial conference (see this post and this post about the last one) brings together a wide variety of scholars and professionals, and those from the fields of language and the law, as well as other related areas.
