Pre-conference event #W2D2017 – A Practical Workshop on using Corpus Linguistics for Law
In addition to the post-conference seminar Common Law in French and Civil Law in English – Bijuralism and Bilingualism à la canadienne!, I have great pleasure in announcing another event – this time before the conference, on Friday 3 February 2017 in the afternoon, entitled “A Practical Workshop on using Corpus Linguistics for Law“. There will be two workshops on that afternoon – the second one can be found here.
Post-conference event #W2D2017 – Bijuralism and Bilingualism à la canadienne!
Inspired by a suggestion from one of the first participants to register, who explained that conference participants from outside the UK might like to extend their visit to London and maximise the use of their travel costs, we are now able to announce that #W2D2017 will be preceded and followed by two/three standalone legal translation events.
Webinars – Know your EU law
eCPD Webinars is offering two webinars entitled “Know your EU law 1: the Law-Making Process in the EU” and “Know your EU law 2: Work Smarter not Harder” on 6 and 8 December 2016 respectively. Each one will last for approximately one hour.

Webinar – Japanese contracts Part III
eCPD Webinars is organizing “Translating Japanese Contracts III: Plain sailing – Setting a course for success” on 15 November 2016 at 11.30 am UK time. It is the third webinar in this series.
The session is designed for in-house and self-employed Japanese-English translators who are either already working in law or considering working in law, and translators who are working at quite a high level already but are interested in improving their skills and prepared to invest time and resources to do so.

Fourth Roundtable in Forensic Linguistics & Phonetics, Mainz, Germany
The Germanic Society of Forensic Linguistics (GSFL) is holding its Fourth Roundtable in Forensic Linguistics & Phonetics in Mainz, Germany from 27-28 August 2016, preceded by a Student and Emerging Scholars’ Day on 26th August.
It aims to “provide forensic linguistics/forensic phonetics researchers, educators, and practitioners the opportunity to present and discuss their work within an interdisciplinary, supportive, and respectful scholarly environment”.
